Smeaton's Tower lighthouse
This is a beautiful lighthouse and overlooks Plymouth Sound. It was originally built between 1756-1759 on Eddystone Reef, 14 miles south of its present position but later dismantled and re-erected on Plymouth Hoe. This was to replace a navigation obelisk that stood at the same location. This is a must see when you visit us here at Citadel House.
On The Hoe
Here you will find this magnificent statue of Sir Frances Drake with the Plymouth War Memorial in the background. In the Hoe is the statue of the circumnavigator Sir Francis Drake, holding globe and sword (1884; a copy of the original statue by Joseph Edgar Boehms stands in a street in Tavistock). This is also a must for visitors to our centrally located guest houses in Plymouth.
